Highly intoxicating and scented, it comes in a variety of colours and has glossy spots. Small and abundent Trumpet flowers with large stamens and round seed pods. Plant it in late spring and only at dusk for late summer flowers. Forms flower buds during the day which open only at night. The flowers last only until morning and then drop off. Attractive to moths and other nocturnal creatures in the garden. Sow in shallow beds, close to the edge of the border. Moon Bells are social flowers and like conversation and company. They like to be planted close to other nocturnal flowers. Tend to weep if neglected. Harvest seed pods and then pull up the whole plant in late Autumn when the growing season is over. If left it has an unpleasant smell. Plant in semi shade.
Magical Uses:
Use the petals of Moon Bells in moisture cream to help with dry skin. External use Only.
